Welcome to DanceHouse, Vancouver’s large-scale contemporary dance series, bringing you the finest in dance from around the world.

We are thrilled by Vancouver’s response to this series. The reaction of our audiences has been overwhelming. if you have joined us in the past, thank you so much. If you are new to our series, we hope you’ll join us as we present our third exciting season at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Our programming for this season represents the fruition of some long-held dreams. When DanceHouse was just an idea, one of the “must-dos” on our list was Paris-based Japanese company Sankai Juku. They will appear in november with Tobari, a work that has stunned audiences around the world. From the New York scene we bring Doug Elkins’ Fraülein Maria one of the hippest, funniest, and most skilful dance works we could find. In march, Vancouver’s very own Wen Wei Dance collaborates with the Beijing Modern Dance Company to perform the international co-production Under the Skin. Finally, we close the season with O Vertigo from Montreal, presenting La Chambre Blanche, a classic work that has been completely reimagined for the 21st century.

This season we’re also delighted to partner with ballet bc to offer our subscribers specially priced tickets to the legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
